UnitedHealthcare 2027 certifications are now open, giving agents an opportunity to get ahead before Annual Enrollment Period.
AEP moves fast. The agents who prepare early are usually the ones who feel more confident, stay better organized, and avoid last-minute certification stress. If you plan to offer UnitedHealthcare Medicare products for 2027, now is the time to complete your certification requirements and start preparing for the season ahead.
UnitedHealthcare has made several updates to help simplify the certification experience for agents this year.
New for 2027:
These updates are designed to give agents a clearer path through certification and help reduce confusion during the process.
To begin your 2027 UnitedHealthcare certifications:
Certification modules and tests are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so agents can complete them on their own schedule.
UnitedHealthcare certifications include built-in feedback to help agents move through the process more efficiently.
Correct answers will move you directly to the next question. Incorrect answers will provide feedback and direct you to the relevant section of the study guide.
An attempt is counted once you complete the assessment. Agents will have up to 6 attempts to complete UnitedHealthcare certifications.
Passing scores vary by assessment:
Completing your certifications early gives you more time to focus on product knowledge, marketing, client outreach, and AEP planning.
UnitedHealthcare will once again accept either AHIP Medicare + Fraud, Waste and Abuse Training or NABIP certification.
These can satisfy the requirement for the UnitedHealthcare Medicare Basics Assessment, including Medicare Advantage, Prescription Drug, and Medicare Supplement plans.
AHIP and NABIP certifications are expected to be available in late June, with more details coming later this month.
UnitedHealthcare is also rolling out resources to help agents prepare for the 2027 selling season.
Here is the expected timeline:
Agents can attend sessions covering key 2027 updates directly from UnitedHealthcare leaders.
Agents can preview 2027 Medicare Advantage plans in the Medicare Product Portal, including information on new and renewing plans, service areas, and benefits.
Agents can attend Product Overview sessions to review the full 2027 product lineup. Invitations are expected to be sent by local leadership teams.
Agents should also watch for the national AEP Planning webinar, AEP Planning Checklist, and Playbook.
By October, agents should be ready to launch their 2027 marketing and sales efforts.
Waiting until the last minute can create unnecessary pressure.
By completing your UnitedHealthcare certifications early, you can spend more time reviewing plan details, preparing client communications, organizing your marketing, and getting ready for AEP conversations.
Early preparation helps you enter AEP with more confidence and fewer distractions.
PSM is here to help agents prepare for AEP with contracting support, certification guidance, product updates, marketing resources, and sales support.
