Dental Coverage and the Medicare-Eligible

There are 51 million Americans 65+, a number that will increase to more than 68 million in the next decade. One of Medicare’s limitations is dental care, and since only 40% of seniors have their own dental insurance coverage, there’s a sizeable opportunity for insurance agents during AEP:

  • Just 40% of Medicare beneficiaries have dental coverage, so the majority of them must pay for dental services out of their own pocket;
  • Many seniors are unaware of the lack of Medicare’s dental coverage and of specific dental insurance available to seniors;
  • Estimates suggest more than 13 million beneficiaries might purchase new dental insurance, a number that will grow to 17 million by 2027.
